Welcome to the #gameofwella Colour Specialist 2020/2021 Competition!

Modern Hair & Beauty invites you to enter our FIRST EVER Digital Hair Competition for a chance to win the title of #gameofwella Colour Specialist 2020/2021.

Showcase your Balayage skills, compete against the best stylists and colourists in South Africa, and take the Balayage trend to the next level.

The competition celebrates both stylists’ skills and the diversity of beauty with Wella. The #gameofwella competition allows colourists to set the tone for coming trends while accentuating their model’s natural beauty. It’s based on the shift we’ve seen in how trends develop: They are no longer set by experts, designers, or fashion houses. Trends are based on the principle of connecting people, igniting conversations, and sharing opinions. The #gameofwella competition will allow stylists to become collective trendsetters in what will be the coming year’s sought-after Balayage looks.

The competition has two categories:

Wella Stockists (only Wella Professionals products are to be used to create the look)

Non Wella Stockists (will receive a box of Wella Professionals products to create the look, no other products may be used)
Once you receive the approval email qualifying you to take part in #gameofwella , we will send you a presentation of the Wella products you can choose from to fill up your box in order for you to create your #gameofwella entry Balayage. All you need to do is send us your selection and we will place the order and have it delivered to your salon.

Both categories will receive the same set of rules to create the looks with a few exceptions. Please refer to and read the Rules & Regulations for clear category instructions.

The #gameofwella competition is inspired by a TrendVision category launched in early 2020.  Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 the National TrendVision Awards were cancelled. However, we wanted to allow stylists the opportunity to compete in an exciting, local, virtual competition. Please note that #gameofwella is created by Modern Hair & Beauty and has no affiliation to the TrendVision Award.

This competition will be hosted on Instagram and stylists will be judged on the before/after images they post on the platform. The looks will be judged by International Top Artists.

Read on for information on the prizes, do’s & don’ts and the Rules & Regulations.
