Modern Hairdressing Supplies (Pty) Ltd was established in South Africa during the 1950s as an importer and distributor of hair products. It owned the distribution rights to both Wella Professionals and Wella retail brands.

Over the years the company changed hands from its local owners to Wella AG in Germany, to Procter & Gamble who moved its retail business from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The move resulted in Cape Town-based Modern Hairdressing Supplies focussing entirely on the professional market.

On 1 December 2009, the company became wholly locally-owned when Chris Stofberg, General Manager at the time, led a management buyout. In 2015 the company was renamed Modern Hair & Beauty and expanded its portfolio to include professional skin care products.

Currently, Modern Hair & Beauty is the licensed distributor of the Wella Company’s professional hair care products Wella Professionals, Kadus Professional, Sebastian Professional, System Professional, Nioxin, and men’s grooming range, SEBMAN.

Other brands in our portfolio include popular Brazilian hair treatment Sweet Hair Professional, Reuzel – Holland’s finest pomades and barbering products, and Swish, our affordable in-salon care range.

We continuously strive to provide the best possible support and care for all our customers through professional training and education and by fostering great relationships. We service more than 3 000 salons within South Africa, Namibia, Mauritius and Angola, either directly or via sub-distributors and wholesalers.
